Beach BBQ

January 31st, 2010 by cgerber

Tomorrow (or today depending on when you sleep and wake up) going to chill down at my friends house on the beach in Santa Monica and eat good food. I’m not exactly sure what all is going on tomorrow night seeing as how the whole town has been going crazy for the Grammys, but I’m sure it will be spontaneous and….whatever.

Haven’t talked to ChadM since he left last week, probably should do that tomorrow. Then again we’ll probably be texting each other over the horrible pop stars that get all the awards despite not having played, wrote, produced, or really even sung their own albums lol. I’m indifferent towards what computers have done for music and I use them for music on a regular basis. I take comfort in knowing that if the world ever fell apart ChadM and I could pick up instruments and just play. No tracks, no buttons, just using our fingers and limbs to…. PLAY instruments. Novel concept I know. Sadly I don’t even know who’s nominated this year. Aren’t there only like 4 or 5 “major” artists even left? Guess I’ll get caught up tomorrow. Maybe I’ll do the unthinkable as a musician and SKIP the Grammys lol. Do you have any idea how NOT well that would go down? This is our Super Bowl lol. But all the hype and corporate created music just leaves a bland taste in my mouth. I want creativity and MUSIC. I feel sorry for Paul Mcartney, Surrounded by dancers and actors who’s voices are melodyned into music. Maybe that’s what the big deal is about 2012! Electricity will be removed from our finger tips and music will need to be played by musicians who can actually play music. I might be hitting pop music and stuff pretty hard but in all honesty I like some of the stuff out there. I like how computers have enabled us to now merge music with our new organic surroundings of digital. Pop may be forgettable, but it can be so much fun to listen too. Sure most people can’t name the 2nd or 3rd American idols, and yeah nobody wants to listen to the classics by 98 Degrees, and or Crazy Town, but it was good for that summer :) Makes me seriously miss Michael Jackson every time I turn on the radio. I liked that pop.

Enough pop bashing, it’s more fun than anything. I’ve got friends in pop groups who are fantastic. It’s more like baseball players slamming football players. It’s all in good fun :)

Got the dog a shock collar today. The second I put it on her she seemed to understand what it was lol. I started putting it on her and she was all excited like she got a new toy or something, but the second I started to buckle it she went stiff lol. Next thing I know she goes to her bed and lays there all night looking upset. I finally took it off later and she went back to normal. I think it’s going to work and probably never even shock her.

Well tomorrow is going to be a long day and I have no idea what’s going down. I’ve been feeling anti social lately so I may end up walking on the beach all night or something. I’ll have to see how it goes.

What is happening on this Planet?

January 30th, 2010 by cgerber

I just read that Japan wants US troops out now. I guess they’re rallying to get them to leave and stuff. I mean, it is US news sources, so I have to take it with a grain of salt considering our media lies to us and everyone in the world knows this but us lol. But it’s just weird to think. I have a friend from Japan, and when you have friends that live in these places that appose US stuff, it usually makes me think 1 of 2 things… “Now what did we do?” or “What is happening on this planet?”. We used to be so well liked, friendly and underdog…ish. Now I’m starting to feel like a Storm Trooper on the Death Star. But my entire perspective is shaped by 4 news sources…. and going to school to learn about Mass Media and how it makes a living, you learn quickly that news hasn’t been what it seems since the 70s and 80s. We’re in a disgraceful age of news right now. One that splices images to create scenes that weren’t remotely as exciting or intense. Takes quotes out of context and has seasoned entertainers as their “news anchors”. Regardless though it makes me sad when I hear about Japan (even if it might not be as big a deal as the news is making it) being upset at something the US is doing. They’re our friends, I have friends there, some of my friends used to live there, and be in the military there…. so what is going on!? Let the 2012 countdown begin! lol. All I know is, if 2012 is another W2K I’m going to be pissed at those Mayans.

I really need to make a trip to the gym today. If I miss a couple days I start to get really moody. It’s beautiful out so maybe I’ll take the dog to the beach or dog park or something. I need to get her a shock collar cause she is making the neighbors mad when I’m gone. I found out last night while at that event from a phone call that she’s howling nonstop and whining. I wasn’t happy. But if I don’t shut her up someone is going to complain and have her removed… so it is what it is. :/

Oh yeah last night was fun. I couldn’t remember if I blogged about last night seeing as how I’m a blogging monster these days. Mostly cause Cory (the bands PR rep) says I should lol. He’s right though. ChadM will probably jump in at some point, but he doesn’t ramble as much as I do. Which is good… that would be annoying.. and I already annoy myself sometimes. Anyway, the haiti/red cross/”the hills”/red carpet thing last night was a lot of fun. Went with good people, saw friends, made new ones, it was good. The photographers were nice on the carpets and didn’t look or act mean. Sometimes they’re mean and it makes that part of the night not very fun. We’re all buddies now. Met some people from Germany, MTV, and an actress. Sadly I don’t watch TV or much film these days, so I don’t recognize anyone lol. But she was very nice and we all ended up hanging out for a bit. Later we (my crew lol) headed to our secret spot tucked away in West Hollywood and chilled there away from the Friday night crazyness. A good night. Tonight is the Sony red carpet pre-grammy party, so that should be fun. I’m so glad the TSD crew is fun otherwise I would probably hate these things. I love long boarding and hanging out near the beach or doing stupid stuff around town. Wearing nice clothes and acting proper isn’t my default lol. I like jumping off things, breaking things… cooking outdoors lol. Dressed up all I think about is how quickly I could destroy the nice clothes I’m wearing if I were to be… me lol. Puts me in a mental straight jacket haha. Oh well, still fun in it’s own way. :)

Yeah, it’s times to jump on the motorcycle for a nice Saturday ride to the gym. Still working on names for the fall tour festival thing. I’ll keep you posted on that since I know you’re dying to know! lol.

And Cookies For Breakfast

January 29th, 2010 by cgerber

Morning to all. I know it’s noon, but it feels really early so back off! I had the most insane dreams last night. All of them took place in this like 70s looking scifi hue, there were robots, flying people, ice worlds, giant sticky black blobs, a lady who was going from pregnant to not pregnant over and over again, and a missing king. I don’t even know if I was in the dream or just watching. I woke up feeling weird lol. At one point there was like stop-motion animation going on and singing.

Been checking out video directors lately to see who’s going to do our new music video. There’s a lot of talent out there. Kind of stupid we haven’t done the video yet, but things happen and lists get long I guess.

So I just found out that I have to be at 2 separate events tonight at the same time on behalf of the band. Joy. If ChadM was in town we could probably just split up, but he’s not, so I need to figure something out. Both events are in Hollywood, so maybe I can just go between them both without anyone noticing. I have a feeling it’s going to be like this all weekend.

You know what I need? I need a trip up into San Francisco then on into the Redwood Forest. I’m on a huge survival camping trip kind of thing… and I don’t really even camp lol. I probably watched too many Man vs Wild shows are something cause now I want to survive at sea, on islands, and in forests. I want a gas mask too.

I swore the room smelled like poop when I woke up this morning. My dog had a little accident last night while I was out and I didn’t realize it till I went to grab my PJs and there was poop on them. How disgusting is that!? I seriously wanted to vomit. I cleaned it all up, but this morning it smelled like poop again… that or I was having a nightmare. The things we do for pets is beyond me.

I want cookies for breakfast. Now.

Red Carpet Weekends

January 29th, 2010 by cgerber

Just got back from a Red Carpet event in Santa Monica for the Red Cross. Man those people are really nice. I mean the whole organization is amazing, but even the people that work for Red Cross are nice. I’m a fan. I even got a gift bag that I still need to look in lol. It was fun. I ate way too many hors d’oeuvres though and someone mistook me for freakin Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy! Good to know… TSD looks like Fall Out Boy… great . I decided to eat my Pete Wentz feelings went to In N Out Burger lol. Now I’m lying naked bloated on my bed. Yes, that visual was for you.

The fun is just beginning! Tomorrow night is another Red Carpet thing to raise money for Haiti, but this time it has something to do with that stupid “The Hills” TV show. Pratt something? I don’t know. But it will be fun and it’s for a good cause of course! If Pete Wentz is there I’m going to fight him. After that it’s Grammy weekend! Will be attending all kinds of Grammy parties around the city seeing as how we weren’t nominated this year and won’t be attending lol. Whatever.. I’m not bitter. Should be a load of fun!. Luckily I’ll be going with good friends, and one so happens to be the bands PR rep, so that’s cool. ChadM is bouncing out of town for the weekend, so I need to hold down the TSD fort till he gets back.

I’ve been informed we need a name for this big tour thing we’re on ASAP! It’s a big tour that will be every year, and will promote important things like homelessness awareness, Haiti relief, inner city programs, etc.. But we need a good name for it that will last a long time. Like…. “The Do Something Tour”…. or “Stop sitting there eating all day and DO SOMETHING… tour”. I don’t know, but we need a name asap before THEY make a dumb one. If you have any ideas, we’re listening. Can’t wait to share more about all this either.

Geez, I’m hungry for a cookie now. Maybe I’m pregnant.

I can’t even tell you how many times my butt was touched and tugged on tonight by random people. Small venues = violations! And you know who you are! lol.

Ight, cookie time.

Feels Like Someone Stomped On My Head

January 28th, 2010 by cgerber

It’s past noon and I just woke up. Waking up around noonish is pretty normal for me since my bed time is anywhere between 3AM and 5AM. At the moment though I feel like someone stomped on my head a few times. Possibly a poor pillow positioning situation? Maybe. Possibly too much Bioshock before bed? Probably. Who knows, I’ll I do know is I hate starting days off with crushed head syndrome. I really need to get into the studio to work on some stuff, but crushed head is making that seems really difficult for some reason lol. This is so stupid.

What’s the deal with people not returning calls or emails as much anymore? I think I’m seeing a pattern as communication has become instant and everywhere, the importance of getting back in touch with someone who calls or emails is becoming more and more….. well.. less important. Since everyone receives a billion texts and emails a day, no matter who you are or how important it is, I think we’re all starting to subconsciously rebel against the communication tech. It’s like being surrounded by friends, family, and work people 24hrs a day. If a friend wants to talk, he just leans over and starts talking in your ear… while at the same time your Mom is going on about whatever, and work people are asking you to do things. At some point with a crowd like that around you, you just start to glaze over knowing that everyone will still be there talking constantly like a family reunion. Everything is getting blurred. I’m not complaining about it cause I love tech and how I can get a million things done via text, but it’s totally changing our entire culture and how quickly we communicate. Sometimes I wish for a massive communications failure that would kill all cell phones, TV, and the internet. Now instead of reading gossip articles on some losers clothes they wore to the Golden Globes, you’re out skinning a dead animal just to wear clothes!…….. ok maybe not. We’ll keep tech a little longer lol. I mean, 2012 we all die anyway right? ;)

Speaking of 2012, you ever watch Back to the Future? Remember on part 2 how he was in the town on the hover board, the hologram billboards and $50 cokes? Yeah, that was in 2015 lol. I might have to double check, but I’m pretty sure that was all supposed to be in 2015. As a kid I dreamed of flying cars by 2000. Talk about a disappointing leap into the future. What did 2000 even give us? The last 10 years were pointless.

Going to the gym, that would fix my crushed head. Or an energy drink.

I realized in a pic I was looking at today that I hang my head like a t-rex sometimes when I walk. I don’t know if I’ve been doing this my whole life, but I’m pretty sure it’s bad for my neck. And it probably scares people. I might just keep walking that way but instead of swinging my arms I’ll keep them propped up like a t-rex.

I should get up and around now. Going to my old friend Peter Daily’s show tonight down in Manhattan Beach. Spot has a cool pier that goes waaaaay out into the ocean that I like. Might jump off and swim with my people.

Photo Shoot Location Scouting

January 27th, 2010 by cgerber

So today me and ChadM went out into the city to try and scout photo shoot locations cause we have to get new pics done. It wouldn’t have been that big a deal but the last photographer ended up screwing us over, so we need new pics….. so you can see our fresh smiling faces lol. We came up with 2 outdoor locations but need more indoor. No idea when we’re going to do that since the photo shoot is next week. If things go really bad we’ll just take pics in front of a bus station or something. Or the typical railroad tracks pic that every band does lol. We did end up on the roof of a tall building today overlooking the city which was pretty cool. I’m sure we’ll probably end up using that one. Just so happened that in the basement of the same building is where Alien and Nightmare on Elm Street was filmed lol. But we decided that murder/alien vibes for TSD probably wouldn’t work that well.

I can’t believe it’s already the weekend…ish. I mean Thursday is tomorrow and by the time you get into the swing of the day it’s time to wind it down and Friday is already here. My friend has a show in Manhattan Beach tomorrow night but I haven’t decided if I’m going to go or not. Depends on if I get stuck in the studio or running around for this fall tour stuff that seems to be consuming my life. I don’t mind, but it’s crazy how one thing can just burry you even before it’s off the ground. It’s all good though.

I’ve made time lately to try and get caught up on some video games on my 360, so I’ve been playing Bioshock. I don’t watch TV cause I honestly can’t stand it, and movies I watch off and on, so video games are heaven when I get to just chill and play them. I played this stupid bioshock game till 4AM today haha. It’s insane. I love this game and I want the new one coming out. Although I’m having to fight getting bored cause my attention span is so incredibly short. If 1 or 2 levels are similar, have similar missions/enemies, I start to loose focus and tend to leave the game half way through. That’s why I like Halo live so much. Playing people always keeps it fresh. But yeah, this game is really creepy and weird. I guess they’re making a movie on it. Maybe they won’t ruin this video game movie thing? Probably lol.

Oh yeah back to bandy things. We haven’t given up the idea/plan to start The Suicide Denial clothing line. We might team up with some people on it to have them design the stuff, but we’re thinking cool jackets, hoodies, tshirts, and fitted hats. Right now it’s on the drawing board since there’s so many details to hammer out in the midst of us doing a hundred other things, but when we get to it it’s going to be off the hook. Did you see the fitted 5950 mockup on the main page? I think it’s pretty sick. Hopefully it will get going sooner than later. Although I can’t wear any of it which sucks. Bands who wear their own gear just seems really lame to people. At least that’s what I’ve heard. Then again the clothing line isn’t band merch, it’s actually like cool clothing that you can’t tell is connected to us, so maybe I can pull it off.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s sort of a holiday weekend for us being the Grammys and all. The city goes crazy, so I’m looking forward to hanging out with fellow musicians and celebrating candy pop stars winning all the awards knowing they’ll be forgotten in 4 years. Remember BBMac? haha. One of a million of those groups. So it kicks off with some pre-grammy red carpet thing Friday night in which I’ll have to stumble across the carpet like an idiot trying not to get a picture taken while licking my lips or coughing. They’re relentless. Bulbs start popping and all you can think is “wait, did I just make a weird face?” or “is my fly down?”. Best part is when media people interview you and you can tell they aren’t listening to a thing you’re saying cause they don’t really care, so they just ask question after question waiting for you to stop talking between. They usually end it a split second after your last word with a sharp “thanks” then they’re on to the next person. I always keep my eye on the goal though. Food. Endure the carpet and you get good food inside haha.

Hey we have twitter too in case you didn’t know. I think it’s http://www.twitter.com/suicidedenial Don’t get mad at me if that’s wrong. What on earth is twitter anyway? Have you noticed that people will text a Twitter message to another person who then receives it on their phone? So I’m guessing in that situation Twitter is simply being the middle man enabling us to read someone’s text conversation? Thank you Twitter. We just use it for pointless random updates. My Mom uses it to keep tabs on me if she can’t reach me lol. Mom’s and their stalking.

Ight, till next blog, keep spreading denial like buttery goodness.

Welcome Dirty Children to the 1st blog!

January 26th, 2010 by cgerber

So we’re done with the whole Myspace blogging thing. We meant to have this blog for some time, but things got really busy and it kept getting pushed down the list. Well here it is! I know you’re pretty excited. I can feel it through the internet.

From now on this is the only place other than twitter, myspace, and facebook updates where you’ll get band juice. We’ll keep you up to date on tour stuff, events we’ll be doing, mud wrestling, gang fights, etc… And don’t expect this blog to be JUST band stuff. It’s a Blog blog. So ChadM or I might just blog about how much we hate sitcoms, or what new sushi joint we just hit that was goooood. Maybe advice, tips, tricks, none of which you should really listen to because after all we are just a band. This is for entertainment purposes only lol. I think you can comment below too about whatever you want. It has to be approved though so that we don’t get spammers on here. As much as I would love to hear about Viagra in bulk or which pills to take per mood. Did you know the U.S is one of the few countries that allows meds to be advertised all over like soda or shoes? A little scary. Take this pill and your penis will grow, take this pill and you’ll be happy for 12 hours, take this pill and you’ll stop peeing, take this pill and you’ll stop eating. I want a pill that keeps me from seeing all these stupid ads everywhere. What are we all dying!?

I watched a really good documentary the other day (not by choice) called Food Inc. I seriously recommend you watch it. Please watch it. It changed my life lol. I’m pretty sure watching this documentary will help you avoid cancer. For real.

Since this blog is categorized in “band news” I think…. I’ll give you a little update. I personally hate giving updates about the band cause this business is full of uncertainty and plans change daily. The whole industry changes daily, which means the band is constantly adapting. We’ve been meeting with a lot of industry people lately about all kinds of stuff. Mainly tour. I’ve been saying touring is dead (for bands) for years, but we finally got the certified YES IT IS. In other words the days of hitting the road playing shows has died thanks to gas prices, home entertainment, and a billion options of things to do every night. Big multi artist tours are still alive, which is what we’re looking at for this fall. As of right now we are involved with a few different charities and artists (who are yet to confirm) on being apart of a national tour to raise awareness for homelessness, and provide blankets for people on the streets. Along with that several charity groups are going to be involved in each city we go through, and help in getting blankets donated for people who need them. This thing is really massive, so the planning part is quite daunting really. We’re excited to be apart of it though and are hoping it will become an annual thing. There would be like 4 big acts (including yours truly!) vending booths, charity tents, local stuff, clowns juggling daggers, that sort of thing. Well maybe not the clowns. I hate clowns. So that’s the big thing going on, which we hope comes together. If you want to get involved feel free to hit us up on here and we’ll pass you along to the right people to talk too! :)

We’ve got a pre-grammy red carpet thing this friday which should be fun, and then of course Grammy party stuff this weekend. Maybe next year we’ll be allowed to submit music in a world of “selling music” despite never The Suicide Denial never selling music haha.

Be looking for spot dates coming up too. Tour might be dead but we’re gearing up for some spot dates around California and some other states. If you have questions just email someone on the contact page of the website lol.

Music video! It’s been a while since the “Someday” music video was released and we’ve been really wanting to get the “I’m Sorry LA” music video done but had a billion hangups thanks to that recession thing. So watch out for that, we’re working on that one.

My hands are tired and I need to take a shower. I’ll be back tomorrow.
