Another Saturday, feels like any other day

February 6th, 2010 by cgerber

Since musicians are basically unemployed, Saturdays feel like every other day to us. I mean we work of course, but we don’t fall into that whole 9-5 world, or punch in punch out sort of deal. If we have a project due, we’ll sometimes work around the clock for weeks to make deadline. Or we’ll take years to finish a project. Take the next TSD album for example. Since all this free music stuff is so complicated and full of red tape, we’ll have to wait till the album has gotten proper attention before we can do the next album. We’ve already started working on the next album. It’s always sad and exciting when working on new music because you realize how much you’ve grown musically, and how your last work sort of feels like a picture you colored in grade school. I’ll tell you right now the new album is “incredible” according to those who have heard the possible title track. Expect ChadM’s drums to be a first of their kind, and my guitars will be more meaty and prominent. We’ll still have that synth element, but it’s leaning towards more of a Gorrilaz type of style. I’m anxious to finish this thing up, but since we have time, we’re refining this thing to death. I’ve been working on a lot of other production projects from heavy rock to pop, so they’ve given me a ton of ideas. ChadM is researching an entirely new way of producing percussion, so I’m in the dark as to what he’s going to come up with. But it’s going to be insane. Expect heavier, more driving, and more melodic. And vocals will be much much stronger. See we did the last album under extremely stressful, difficult circumstances. We had to create an ice sculpture with a fork and spoon. Now we have a chainsaw. So… yeah. Hope that gets you as excited as we are, now we just need to get the suits moving lol.

It stopped raining today, but I still feel like it is. I’m going to hit the gym and work off my Seattle rain depression lol. I LOVE Seattle, but I personally can never live there because of how much rain effects my mood. And I love riding my motorcycle every day. I could probably do San Francisco cause it has a twist of Seattle and LA in it, with some rain, but enough sunshine. One of the most beautiful cities. But I bleed Los Angeles blood. This city has been incredible to me. It’s just home. :) Everyone should have one of those.

Oh yeah… tomorrow is Super Bowel Sunday lol (I spelled it that way on purpose you grammar Nazi). I only tell my friends this, but now I’m tell you cause you’re such a quiet listener. I HATE Super Bowl Sunday. It’s actually my least favorite day of the year. I just don’t have the attention span, and the commercials haven’t been good for 5 years. Lets be honest. It’s like watching The Lord Of The Rings extended addition plus some of the Harry Potters, all in one sitting. Back sweat. I’m going to a party tomorrow, but I’m hoping there’s a place I can go get away from the TV lol. Maybe a foosball table! Thinking about tomorrow makes me want to burn off energy right now. So I’m going to the gym.
